Tournament report from Chumash

So yesterday i played in the chumash central coast championships. It was a very hard day because the night before my roomates were very loud, i slept on the floor, barely got any sleep, and had to be up at 6 am. so i woke up at 6 got in line for an hour and a half and ended up being alternate #46. gravy. i went back to the hotel to try n sleep for 20 more minutes. by the time im ready to go the keys go missing, so i find out a while later my roomate accidently took them with him. so i call a taxi asap because im supposed to be back at a certain hour. anyway i get there, cards go in the air. 55 minutes go by and they only get to alternate 40, their only accepting alternates for the first hour. at 59:42 i was seated, i was the last alternate to get a seat. a an alternate i acctually started with less chips than everyone else.

I get my seat, introduce myself as always, i got the 1 seat and i hate the 1 seat and the 10 seat for many reasons. you cant see the whole table, dealer accidently steals your cards, chipstacks are hard to count. so cards go in the air, i got 4700 blinds 50-100. humongous stack on my right. trying to figure him out. hes one of those gangster looking guys, grill and all. i try not to stereo type too much, but this look generally means loose aggressive or loose passive. im not going to judge immediatly though.

I folded for the first half hour, every hand i simply mucked. finally i made a play with rags. was dealt 2s :4c on the button 5 people limped so i made it 600 to go, 2 callers flop

Qh4d 9c

both check to me, i make it 1100 they both fold. i actually didnt see a real holding for the first 2 hours. so i made a lot of steals and bluffs when the blinds moved to 100-200

finally the blinds were at 200-400 and i got a table change. i was in charge of my table, making 5 consequtives bluffs (i wasn't caught once in this tourney). then BOOM a real hand, im dealt

10c10d and i got like13k. i make it 1400 to go, small blind moves all in for 6k. given my table image he could really have any type of hand. i call he had AhQs and won the coinflip. after that he muttered "I knew I'd get him" to people close to him at the table. i don't understand this. when the money got in he wasnt even a favorite. he didnt really get me, he got luck. whatever, shakin it off.

ok back to the drawing board. no reason to get upset yet. i come back bluffing. seriously i would jus put in a raise and everyone would fold everytime. or people would limp my blinds in late position and i would jus checkraise the flop with nothing and theyd actually muck middle pair. i really liked my table. so now i have about 17k and bingo utg i get dealt

QsQh

blinds are now at 400-800, i make it 2500 to go. everyone folds. the big blind thinks for a long time. and pushes all in. i know i got him, but he has a little over 11k. i call, he flips....

Ac 10c

you kiddin? "i was short stack" he said. he was like the 2nd biggest stack at the table. ok well heres a chance to accumulate A LOT of chips. turn card brings and ace and im crippled.

agh so frusterated at this point because at this point. i have not had a hand, that would of won a showdown yet. and were 3 hours in. so the next 3 or 4 hands i jus push and everyone mucks. i get back to about 12k

we come back from break and i feel a lot better after talking to some friends. blinds come back at 600-1200. then someone special arrives at my table. its jamie foxx. jamie was doing a lot of limping in his first hands, and i would raise and everyone would muck, it worked out really nicely for me. then he limped again leaving him 2k. i got dealt
Ad9s and moved all in in the sb to push out shortstack bb. jamie called with JdQh. and did not catch up and was eliminated. nice, at least i got that, my table gave me shit for movin in with a9 saying its a terrible play and i was js attackin him like i was all day. but if he had a9 beat he would of raised. i was pretty sure i was ahead.

blinds 600-1200, i raise to 3200 with
6h6s BB moves all in for about 7k with Kc Qc. i call leaving me about 10k after this. he wins the coin flip. then i make a big move, i raise in mid position with

Kd8c

i make it 3500 to go, leaving me 9000

big blind big stack calls. flop

7d5c 4s

he checks, i move all in. he takes a long time and folds
Ks 7h.

im ready to open up my table so i throw
Kd8c face up. this is my advertisement, im set to make a move with big cards later.

a while later im at 12k. blinds 1000-2000 100 ante. my buddy on the right who beat me with A10 was not at 7k, a few hands later he moved in from one of the cut off and i was dealt
AcJd. i reraised all in for 11,900. the big blind takes his time, and calls both all ins. im thinkin i need some help. BB flips Qh10h other guy flips KsQd.

this cant be serious? kq alright, but q10??? here we go flop junk junk JACK. turn junk, river junk. and i make kind of a big comical scene about it.

now we got nearly 30k in chips. im in the cut off with
AdKh. nice blinds 1500-3000 100 ante. i make it 9 to go. old lady moves all in for about 14, 5 more to me i throw it in. she flips 9d9s. and i lose... again. i got about 15 or 16 left. a couple more blind steals and now i got about 25k

were down to 121 players at this point and 100 cash. but im not worried about cashing, i want that ring so bad. i get dealt
10s10d in the cutoff. and i make i move in. the guy who called me with Q10 jus sucked out on someoneand had a huge stack, and he moved in havign me covered. everyone folded and he flipped KdKs. lights out.

school

Im really starting to hate de anza. the first quarter was really good, the next one fell off a bit, and it only gets worse this quarter. In my math class yesterday, i have this teacher who is all in all a happy go lucky guy. we had a good student to teacher relationship, im always very pleasant to him; asking him how is wife is, how well he did on the golf course, etc. yesterday in class, mr. sehkon was talking about matrixes and was trying to show us how to solve them. he wrote to the side. 2/3x = 6. i raise my hand, he calls on me. i ask "where did you get the 2/3x from?" and he blows up. "Alex, you are always a distraction, you know what im fed up with it." he proceeds to tell a long pointless unanalogous story about when he taught in menlow park and how he was such a great guy for refusing a bribe. after his ramble he says "when i saw you signed up for my class i nearly had a heart attack, as soon as this class is over im going to the dean, i want you out of my class!"
you cant be serious...i wish i had video camera or something, i asked where he got 2/3x and i guess he had some issue with it. If he does actually go to the dean, i talked to some other teachers who would testify for me. I plan on looking at west valley sometime this week.

o and maybe chumash this weekend...

Tournament report

Last night i went to the big boy for the 70+15+(15 bounty). I think 25 people entered and I ended up getting 2nd. First off let me explain the bounty; If you buy a bounty chip worth $15, every player you knock out holding a bounty chip becomes your bounty chip. When you make it down to 9 the bounty chips are collected and are worth 15 dollars each. Ok now to the action, I drew the 7 seat, but more importantly i was behind one of the guys from the tournament who gives me trouble, i wanted him gone before the blinds grew because he doesnt let me pick on the table while everyone else just lets me be a bully.

first hand, blinds $25-$50 everyone has $5,000 my friend who well will call Mike, limps along with another player. i look down and As Ad first hand? you kiddin? ok. 2 limps i make it 300 to go trying to isolate or hopefully get someone to reraise. the button ended up calling and mike and the other limper did as well.

flop

10s 4s3d

pretty safe flop it would be very hard for someone to call 300 preflop and flop 2 pair right here. Mike comes out firing 800 one player folds, up to me, now i know mike knows i like to be a bully so if i put in a raise here with some fold equity he might come over the top. i make it $3,000, button folds, he moves in, checkmate. he flipped over a flush draw, and my aces held. doubling me up but maybe more importantly getting rid of the problem that is mike early.

i built to nearly $13,000 within half an hour and decided to just play ABC poker. the blinds were small and i wanted to have a nice tight table image.

now i knocked out 2 players early winning their bounty chips, some player with a big stack came and sat on my left and he had 3 bounty chips as well. i watched a hand he played. ill pick up the action from the point the board read

3d 3s10h6h

some player moved all in for $3,900

he took only about 15 seconds and put in a call.

the player all in had
Ac 3c

the caller with the big stack had AsKs

the big stack starts flipping out, after someone said nice hand he muttered donkey fuckin play. this is music to my ears. i know hes on tilt, and hes a weak weak player. the action preflop was
Ac 3c and AsKs called. and AsKs just kept calling down.

The blinds rose to 200-400 and i was raising every hand folded to me. they just would fold every time, they are pretty easy to pick on. i have about $17,000

im in the big bling, UTG goes all in for $2,400 he used to be the big stack and he still has those

3 bountys. folded to me i look down at
Ks 10c. i consider my options, nothing horrible will happen if i lose this hand, but if i win ill get his $45 in bounty chips. i call he flips

AhQd

flop comes out

10d Kc6h

turn

Js

river

10h

hehe. ill take em however i can get em.

eventually the blinds raised to 300 and 600 which was jus party time for me. i raised every pot from every position. i soon let people know there was no more limping. the entire table limped my sb one hand and i looked down at

5h 8s

im all in. everyone folds. the dealer looked at my cards and kind of screwed me saying "you all just got punked"

didn't really need that. i dont want anyone to try to be a hero against me.

The final table was nuts, after i turned in my 7 bounty chips we started 9 handed. quickly moved to 5 handed. where somone was down to 1 $500
chip. he doubled/tripled up 6 hands in a row to be come the new chip leader. then lost a big pot. then later i was dealt

7d7s

and moved in for about $26,000

guy who had $500 now has $18,000

and calls, everyone else folds and im glad to hear him say "i need
some help dealer" and flip

7h 6h

knocked him out and we became 4 handed when 3 cash. another weak player was knocked out were ITM. with the blinds $3000/$6000. the button with about 14k moves in and i have
10d10s

he flips
Qs Js

and i win the flip. we are now HU

I have about 63k he has about 57k

first hand he makes it 12 to go and i look at

2d 2s

and move in. he thinks for a while and calls with
10s8s

he wins the flip. im short stacked. i actually get my stack up to about 35k then move all in again with
2d 2s this time i lose a race to JsKh and was knocked out of the tournament. all in all a fun tournament that i look forward to playing again next week if i do not go to CHUMASS.
